check out: Constantinos Restaurant 609-344-4932 at 1100 Pacific Ave. [Taj is 1000 Pacific]. They are a diner and ONLY open for breakfast & lunch. The AC bar and grill is good ( seafood/steaks) but not really comfortable for many seniors. ( a bit loud and hectic.) Toronto Ontario · 487 forum posts I'm sure you will have a great time. Do not hesitate to take a jitney to other parts of the city (Tony's Baltimore Grill. Los Amigos. Chelsea Pub, and the infamous White House Sub Shop are all easily accessible). A jitney costs $2 per ride, and is worth the adventure! I've gone on 2 DKM tours this year and found them very good. They provide you with drinks and muffins early in the morning and show videos and play bingo and the time goes fast. Don't forget to admire the scenery as well. Well we are back from our trip to Atlantic City. First let me say that we were not impressed with DKM Tours. And it's not just us, mostly everyone I spoke to (all neighbours of our adult community) were totally put off by DKM Tours. Oh. and breakfasts, that is important. I am a Cracker Barrel addict, in my opinion they serve the best breakfasts on the face of the earth. is there anyplace that serves a tasty breakfast even remotely similar to CB? For a little more upscale dining, check out Momma Mott's (Italian) and the AC Bar & Grill (stick with seafood). They are reasonable with good food, and you can check out their menus on-line. Work nj transit 551 bus schedule to atlantic city, Beach or Casino! · 2,750 forum posts The tour group is DKM Tours. What is the jetti thingy that one of you mentioned (to go to another location for $2.00)? I've never heard of it. My husband uses a cane so he isn't up to walking miles either. The jitney is very handy. It stops at just about every corner. You might want to take it over to the Borgata for a look around. It is very much like the Las Vegas casinos and they have a fast food area with a big selection of types of food. The jitney stops right at the door and an escalator is there to take you upstairs. No walking at that end. I agree the Irish pub is an interesting choice. Many Seniors love it at it is a step into the past, especially if you can read the old newspapers and posters. Not fancy, but great prices for a meal. Open 24/7. Check their menu at: http://www.theirishpub.com/ Their map is AT: http://www.theirishpub.com/map2.htm When they took us on the shopping excursion one of the stores they said we could go to was the Dollar Store. can you imagine? Travelling all that distance to go to a freaking dollar store? It was bad enough that Target was one of the stores they stopped at or crying out loud who wants to shop at a cheap version of Wal-Mart? Toronto Ontario · 487 forum posts As we're traveling from Canada, we aren't familiar with the restaurants So even though the food was not the best in Atlantic City the trip was good. until we had the bus ride from hell with DKM Tours. Philadelphia/Atlantic City. · 14,322 forum posts The new Noodle bar in the Taj has an interesting selection of Asian dishes, mostly soups: Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean. I think it is also open 24/7. Big portions i play casino euro palace, and what we had was very good, if you might enjoy something a little more authentic that what passes as Asian food around here these days. Central NJ · 2,479 forum posts We really need places that are within a very short walking distance of the Trump Taj Maha (because we're seniors who can not walk far). So we're ooking for good tasting food, reasonably priced for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Oct 04, 2006, 8:58 PM The Bombay cafe in the Taj has a small buffet that we found to be good and they also have menu service. I also like the Sultans buffet there. And if you like chinese or japanese food they have a restaurant and a new noodle bar. Those I havent tried but they are always crowded. Enjoy your trip! Oct 04, 2006, 12:09 PM Can anyone help us? We prefer quality food to quantity and can not stand frozen, prepackaged food that some restaurants serve. Steak, chicken kid activities in atlantic city, etc. some pizza if it's tasty rather than cardboard crap. Spaghetti if it is tasty and not made with a standard free slot machines games play, sour tasting sauce, even Chinese food if it's tasty (I absolutely adore Chinese food but gag if it's crappy). that kind of stuff. The Showboat buffet is very good but pricey without a comp . If you have any questions about DKM feel free to ask. As for Atlantic City, well we found a restaurant where we had okay breakfasts. It was in the Taj and it was called Stage New York Deli. The Sultan's Feast was closed for renovations but the other buffet Bombay Cafe was open. Crap, absolute crap. We went on the 1st. night and had the $18.00 prime rib buffet. The prime rib was so tough we couldn't cut it with our knife. We sampled a bit of almost everything and found it absolutely tasteless. We followed the advice of Terminator 1 and had lunch at the Irish Pub. It was quite good. For $1.99 you get soup and a sandwich as a lunch special You can check out their menus online and see the location.I noticed a lot of people ordering fish and chips. If you want the lunch special get there around 11;30 as a long line forms by about noon. They have a fantastic choice of draft beer as well and so cheap compared to Canadian prices. It isn't too far from Resorts. I've been reading all the reviews and from what I've read, most of the food there is crappy and the buffets are apparently to be avoided at all costs. On the way back home they made us sit on the bus for FIVE hours without a stop to get out and stretch. Also they did not stop for dinner. We had to wait until past 11:00 p.m. when we got home to have dinner. This was very difficult for diabetics who had to monitor their blood sugar, insulin and medications. Oh the bus driver got to get out of the bus for his potty break and the hostess got to get out of the bus for her cigarette. but we, the paying passengers had to stay in the bus. I'm one of the people who wrote a review about the Taj when we were there in June. We loved the hotel and casino but thought the buffet was terrible. We made a trip back there 2 weeks ago for 3 nights and ate at the Bombay Cafe twice for breakfast and it hadn't improved one bit. The reason we ate there is because the Taj is pretty generous with their food comps and we had enough to cover 2 breakfasts by using our players card in the machines. The comps expire after a few months so we didn't want to waste them. Make sure you use your players cards every time and ask the club to link the cards so you can combine points. Breadsticks in Resorts, Canal Street in Showboat (24/7), and The Stage Deli in Taj have some decent sandwiches if you want a quick lunch nearby. Have a great time and please share some thoughts here about your experiences in AC. We're going on a bus trip and are staying at the Trump Taj Mahal hotel/casino. HELP. where can we find edible food close by? Snowbird - since you will be there for four days dance classes in atlantic city, be sure to stop by the Irish Pub on St. James Place. It should be a very easy walk for you, not too far at all (maybe 2-3 blocks of boardwalk). The food is not gourmet by any stretch trains from nyc to atlantic city nj, but they have a varied, inexpensive menu and daily lunch specials which will definitely fit your budget. They are open 24/7 but I have never tried breakfast there. The Jitneys are small buses that run 24/7 on the first block from the boardwalk, and to the Marina district, Convention Center. etc. Early on our trip home on Thursday the hostess said that she had some muffins left over. (from Monday). Hello. like anyone was going to eat stale donuts. The bus was dirty. all in all we were NOT impressed with DKM Tours. Oh and once we got to Atlantic City we were informed that the dinner & entertainment that was planned was congealed. A new schedule was made up with did not include the wine & cheese social that was also planned. I'm not a big fan of buffets myself but I particularly dislike cold rubbery scrambled eggs and greasy bacon in the morning. And I'm not crazy about a selection of miniature danish pastries for breakfast. If you do go to the morning buffet, when you sit down, if you want toast order it from your waiter as there isn't any at the buffet itself. They won't offer it to you unless you ask. As I said if you play enough with your players card you will probably get enough food comps to cover breakfast or part of it. Wasaga Beach, Ontario · 8 forum posts We also ate at the Atlantic City Bar and Grill. The food is ok but we found the waitservice not too great. Might have hit a bad shift but they are quite unbending in not permitting substitutions and we found the food a bit salty. We are on low sodium diets so that may have just been us. Are ALL the buffets bad at the Taj? From the reviews I've read best restaurants atlantic city yelp, 95% of the reviewers say they're crap. Have a good time. They has mechanical problems and one of the passengers got out to look and found there were loose lug nuts on the wheel. They drove the bus for many hours before they stopped to have a mechanic look at it. Many of us were frightened, knowing that the lug nuts were loose. What a hellish trip this was. The Jitneys are small ( 22 passenger ?) buses that run frequently . We did eat at the Hard Rock Cafe and that food was at least edible. We ended up grabbing a pretzel dog for dinner because the restaurants were so crappy. Oct 04, 2006, 1:48 PM Still looking for some recommendations. keep 'em coming folks. LOL Hi everyone, thank you so much for your assistance, I really appreciate it. Oct 04, 2006, 11:58 PM They handed out some bags of potato chips to hold us until we could get home to cook dinner and by the time we got in the door and started cooking it was almost midnight. They didn't even have enough potato chips to go around and the bag I got was seasoned potato chips which were spicy and burned the inside of my mouth so I couldn't eat them. The Mansion at Showboat has good breakfast but pricey ! The transportation is called a jitney. DKM will issue you a package of info when you near AC and it includes a brochure about the jitney and shows the main points of interest in AC and what jitney to take. They run every 3 or 4 minutes so no long waits. It's about a 2 minute walk from where the bus will drop you off at the hotel lobby to the place where you catch the jitney. The jitney route runs parallel to the Boardwalk so if you don't want to walk up to the casinos farther along the Boardwalk you hop on the jitney. Can anyone help us, we don't want to spend 4 days there and not be able to have a decent meal. However we did walk over to the Showboat Casino and on the 2nd. floor way at the back is a restaurant called The Mansion House or something like that. We had the crab. oh yum, it was so good. They served corn on the cob with it but it was so soft and soggy that we asked them to remove it from the table. They returned with some other veggies that were so-so. We had to ask them to replace the water in the teapot because what we got was lukewarm. When you get to the Taj ask for a free AC Weekly Paper. There is often discounr coupons in there. Also lots of information about the restaurants and casinos. If you are there on a Sunday buy a copy of the Star Ledger Newspaper. There is often a discount coupon in the Spotlight Section for a buffet. You can get a $10 birthday month discount coupon for RiRa Irish Pub at the Tropicanna by signing up on line. You can access all the casino links at whoot.com. Of course you can save money by getting your sodas. coffees. cocktails for a $1 tip per drink ( suggested) while you are sitting ( playing) at a slot machine. You can get much less expensive but smaller burgers at Irish Pub. There is a fairly inexpensive ,but good ,self service place near the bus witing area of Showboat. They have everything from crepes to sandwiches. Sorry I can't remember the name. but you cant miss it ! We had a meal at Resorts in Breadsticks and it was pretty good. You can go to Showboat and Resorts by using the walkways so if the weather is bad you don't have to go outside. Oct 04, 2006, 11:33 PM We ate at the Taj buffet last week. Not bad. But a month before it was not so good. Seems some places change so fast in AC it hard to keep up. Resorts, next door to Taj, also just upgraded their buffet. Showboat vacation spots in atlantic city, on the other side next door, also has probably the best buffet of the three. At least it was very good last week. I believe all take comp $, if you play enough, off your bill. We've also had good enough meals in the Bombay Cafe in the Tag, including the prime rib buffet. Also open 24/7. Regardless of what others may say, many "seniors" enjoy the buffets because they can pick and choose what is healthiest for them. As is said in AC winner casino no deposit bonus codes 2017, "It's all a gamble." So where can seniors with delicate digestive systems eat? We're seniors on a very tight budget and this is a one time shot for us. We can't afford mega expensive meals and we can't tolerate family style or loud restaurants where music is blasting and kids are screaming. Been there, done that in our youth. LOL If you are not used to casinos. Put a certain amount of money aside for gambling each day. What you can afford to lose for the fun of trying. And STICK TO IT. The casinos are designed to get you to dip into funds you really don't want to gamble with. Oct 05, 2006, 12:59 AM The new Resorts buffet has good food but is a bit overpriced without a discount .( You get a bit of a discount with a Resorts card .) Same for the Taj. ( Taj used to give a senior discount on Mondays .) What tour company are you going with? We used to drive down there but much prefer the bus now. You can snooze or admire the lovely scenery in the Poconos and not worry about detours or rainy day driving or rush hour traffic around Philadelphia .
